What we work on
Research directions
The lab works on healthcare AI: small language models, privacy-preserving synthetic electronic health records, clinical evaluation of model outputs, and health coaching grounded in behavior science. You can read more on the research page.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including those underrepresented in computing and the health sciences. If the work interests you, please reach out. Curiosity and fit matter more than a specific background.
Positions
Who we are looking for
- PhD students
- Admitted through the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Email the PI before you apply so we can discuss fit and current funding.
- Undergraduate & master's students
- Current IU students can join through research credit, independent study, or a Luddy undergraduate research posting. Find the project that interests you, then email the PI naming that research direction and why it appeals to you.
- Visiting scholars & students
- We host visitors case by case. Reach out well in advance with your dates and interests.
